And what an excellent Christmas it was! My mom, my dad, and my brother all drove a million miles from Northern Virginia to be here. And my aunt drove from KY to spend the holiday with us. A house full of family for Christmas is just what I have wanted for a few years now!
The food, the family and the amazing pile of gifts (that comes with 6 adults, a toddler and a preschooler). It was all so much fun!
Santa (shockingly resembles grandpa) stopped by in the afternoon on Christmas eve. We had gone for a walk and when we returned, we saw him standing in our back yard. The boys sat on his lap and he gave them each a few books to unwrap…a little teaser for what was to come.
Luke was super excited to see the kitchen he had been praying for since June gleefully spotlighted next to the Christmas tree. Zealand, my sporty spice, showed exuberant excitement when he opened a special gift from his uncle…his first tennis racquet. After gifts were open, our guests went back to their condo to change into “day clothes”. Once they returned to our place, was THE BIG CHRISTMAS SURPRISE.
The police car.
A gift from my parents that daddy worked hard to put together on Christmas eve and we were all ready to unveil. Uncle Stephen and I, cameras in hand, found our paparazzi spots to capture the magic of surprise on their faces. And we did!
If that was the appetizer for what’s to come for the main course in 2013 – I say, bring it on.
Happy New Year!!!
