I’ve made this meal a few times, but never on an actual pizza pan like it says to in the recipe. Call me stubborn, but I just couldn’t picture pasta as a pizza! But, eventually my love and desire for pizza won out as this dish is much healthier. And, I got a thumbs up from the entire family!
- 5 oz dried rotini or noodles of your choice (I chose elbow macaroni) (2 cups)
- 1 beaten egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbl grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 pd lean ground beef
- 1 1/2 cups chunky garden style pasta sauce
- 1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese (I only had a mixture of cheese which included cheddar, but mozzarella only would have been great)
Directions: Cook noodles according to package directions. For pasta crust, in large bowel combine egg, milk and Parmesan cheese. Stir in drained rotini. Spread rotini mixture evenly in greased 12 inch pizza pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, cook beef in skilled until browned; drain, stir in pasta sauce. Spoon mixture over noodle crust and top with cheese. Cook in oven 10-12 minutes more or until heated through and cheese is softened. Serve with salad or bread.
