The Little Penguin Pinot Noir
It’s from Australia, and I love me some Australian wine. Overall, it wasn’t my all-time favorite Pinot Noir, but it was good. I’d drink it again.
Must. Have. Wine. Mommy-Approved Score: 3.5 STARS
Price: $8 – $12
Where I found it: Publix
Reviews from wine experts:
Review from BevMo! The Little Penguin Pinot Noir is a medium bodied red with no edges; pleasant, ripe red fruit flavors abound.
Review from Winery Notes The bouquet shows sweet strawberry fruit aromas with hints of spice and delicate oak characters in the background. The palate is elegant, creamy and soft with lively yet subtle cherry and strawberry flavors. The finish is elegant and long.
Review from Examiner.com It’s a clear, purple pinot noir. Wait, dark pinot noir? Is there such an animal?! You’d better believe it. The lighter the Pinot Noir color, the better the quality (generally). The most notable notes in the bouquet are smoke, licorice, jammy fruit, primarily strawberries. The flavor is full (typical of new world selections), consisting of anise, smoked wood, and… strawberries. Very fruity strawberries, like a candy. Wasn’t expecting that. It’s balanced correctly, but in spite of that it still leaves the drinker slightly puzzled. Best with acid, good with salt and sweet.
